Gideon Mensah-Commey
As the Environmental Activist of Ghana Youth Environmental Movement, Gideon Mensah-Commey provides leadership to achieve the organization's objectives in public policy advocacy, develops campaign strategies for the environment and climate action, and coordinates multi-sector stakeholder engagements between government, private sector and civil society on environment and renewable energy policy. While in the U.S., Mensah-Commey worked with 350Vermont in Vermont, where he built partnerships with non-profit leaders, the solar industry and allies in Vermont to raise awareness of the scale of climate change and fostered connections with youth in Vermont to enhance their awareness and participation in environmental justice issues. Now in the United Kingdom, Mensah-Commey has focused his efforts on Ghana’s Young Environmentalist Programme (GYEP), a 12-month program that seeks to train and empower the next generation of environmentalists and climate activists in Ghana to be highly equipped with knowledge and skills to tackle the country's pressing environmental challenges.
