As a faculty member of Sultan Kudarat State University, Carilyn Salanio-Martin teaches disaster risk reduction and environmental education courses. While in the U.S., Salanio-Martin worked with Intelligentsia International in Florida, where she managed Caloosahatchee Riverwatch's advocacy and affiliation in the Waterkeeper Alliance and promoted community engagement in environmental activities related to Caloosahatchee River conservation. Since her return to the Philippines, Salanio-Martin has focused her efforts on climate change adaptation and is establishing a nursery for beach forest and Philippine native trees to protect them from storm surges and coastal erosion.
