As a project manager at the Church and Society Program, Happy Mhango currently manages a project that evaluates how rural women benefit from development initiatives, with a special focus on rights-based programming, women’s empowerment and community centered development. During his fellowship in the United States, Mhango hopes to acquire knowledge, skills and experience that will enhance his capacity to empower rural communities in Malawi. After returning home from the Community Solutions Program, Mhango will focus on developing strategies that will contribute to ending violence against women in Malawi. These strategies will focus on economic empowerment, access to justice and elimination of cultural practices that fuel violence against women.
