Joy Namunoga
As the Project Advocacy Officer-Governance and Social Accountability of ActionAid International, Joy Namunoga spearheads advocacy and citizen-led campaigns at local, regional, and national levels; leads the research and development of alternative models for policy influencing and shared learning; plans, implements, and monitors governance and social accountability projects; and facilitates the documentation, innovation, and packaging of advocacy and campaign results and resource mobilization. While in the U.S., Namunoga worked with Sunlight Foundation in Washington D.C., where she conducted the first project on extractives, conducted a research project on using public data to improve policing in Uganda, and contributed to research projects on using data to track police response to sexual assault at Baltimore Police Department and on the United States' influence abroad on bribery. Since her return to Uganda, Namunoga has focused her efforts on working with 18 Ugandan local governments to diversify revenue streams for improved gender responsive public services, enhancing the capacity of 63 local government leaders in local economic development to enhance revenue collection, and working with 55 accountability champions to make input in the amendment of Uganda's Zero Tolerance to Corruption Policy.
