As a field coordinator for the Association for Women and Child Protection in Gaza, Abeer Salha improves the lives of women and children through workshops, training sessions and non-formal activities that promote safe educational environments. During her fellowship in the United States, Salha hopes to learn about planning and implementing programs which strengthen the role of women in society by equipping them with improved life skills, employability skills and self-confidence. Upon returning from the Community Solution Program, Salha plans on addressing the societal perceptions of women and changing their stereotyped image through developing an awareness campaign which brings together community and regional women leaders to bring attention to the plight of women in Gaza and societal failure to acknowledge and improve women’s role in society.
