Marco Perez-Navarrete
Marco Perez-Navarrete worked for the Salvadoran-British Permaculture Institute of El Salvador, promoting sustainable agriculture and food sovereignty. There he developed academic programs to teach subsistence farmers about local development alternatives. He worked with community leaders and representatives of governmental and non-governmental institutions to create networks and policies that support communities across the country. While in the U.S., Perez-Navarrete worked with the Victory Garden Initiative in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, designing and improving a new model of community garden, currently supported by the rising organization We Grow Greens. Following the fellowship, he worked to promote trade and linkages among subsistence farmers in El Salvador through a permaculture network. Currently, he works with the international foundation Heinrich Böll Stiftung, where he coordinates projects related to several issues in Central America, including environmental issues, political analysis and gender equality.
