Catherine Mootian
As the Founder and Director of Girls Redefined, Catherine is committed to empowering girls ages 12-18 who are at-risk or have survived female genital mutilation (FGM). She helps them rediscover and celebrate their wholeness, develop their self-confidence, and become agents of change within their own communities. During her fellowship in the United States, Catherine hopes to learn how to be a better leader by becoming more assertive, disciplined, and a strong public speaker. She also wants to develop her skills in resolving interpersonal workplace conflicts, and to broaden her understanding of ethical leadership, strategic planning, networking, fundraising and proposal writing. Upon returning to Kenya, Catherine plans to explore how technology can contribute to the elimination of FGM in Kenya.
