As a Children’s Services Associate for Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, Darcel is an expert in child protection issues and advocacy. She has skills in report writing, conflict resolution and life skills training, focusing on healthy and safe environments for children. During her fellowship in the United States, Darcel hopes to learn about policies and practices in child protection and non-profit management, while also developing her skills in effective program design and implementation. Upon returning from the Community Solutions Program, Darcel plans to establish a homework and recreational center for youth, which would concentrate on life skills training, character development, and education. She also plans to establish a non-governmental organization for at-risk youth which would aim to provide food, shelter, educational and job support.
