Abba Gibba
Abba Gibba fled Gambia in August 2010 after his second arrest for reporting that ran afoul of the government. An editor at The Point, he was detained in 2009 with seven other journalists and charged with sedition for criticizing the president’s comments about the 2004 unsolved murder of an editor. Gibba says he does not envision being able to return to his country in the foreseeable future, although he remains in regular contact with journalists remaining there.
