Ramata Sore
A journalist since 2000, mainly for L’Evenement, a biweekly newspaper of Burkina Faso, Ramata Sore has won recognition for her ground‐breaking reporting. She received a CNN Multi‐choice World Press Freedom Day 2011 Fellows 2 award in 2006 for an examination of attitudes toward homosexuality in Burkina Faso, and a Reuters IUCN Media award for environmental reporting. Her writing on taboo topics has made her the target of threats in Burkina Faso. In 2005, she launched a blog, a rarity in Burkina Faso. She is now studying journalism at Quinnipiac University in the United States, and continues to post regularly.
