Digna Peter is the Director of the Women Center for Communication and Development in Tanzania, where she is responsible for the Center’s community mobilization efforts and capacity-building trainings for local organizations. Peter has experience with participatory budgeting, administrative reform, social audits and citizen-led government monitoring initiatives. As a fellow at One America in Seattle, Washington, Peter worked on building civic rights for refugees and immigrants through community organizing activities, such as mobilizing and registering voters. She also played an integral role in a project on building effective models for parent and provider engagement and organizing. Upon returning from the Community Solutions Program, she worked towards improving the living standards of the rural population of Handeni by promoting civic engagement and voter participation.
