As a Senior Project Officer at Gaia-Oasis Foundation, Fatima Astuti works on preserving the environment as well as culture and education in and around Tejakula, North Bali, Indonesia. Prior to that, she worked as a Project Officer at the Sanggar Anak Akar, developing an alternative education system for marginalized children. As a CSP Fellow at the Conflict Resolution Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Astuti completed 30 hours of basic mediation training, was involved in the early development of a youth council project, and produced a youth training module for youth circle leaders. Upon returning from the Community Solutions Program, she focused on increasing understanding and appreciation of multiculturalism through conflict resolution among youth and their communities in the Sanggar Anak Akar area of East Jakarta. She has been using her mediation training and experiences as a youth circle leader for her works at Gaia-Oasis, especially when she works on environmental education for youth and children.
