Godess Bvukutwa
As the Founder and Coordinator of the Mambakwedza Women's Center, Godess Bvukutwa manages a nonprofit organization that seeks to break down gender stereotypes and inspires, equips, mentors, and advocates for the rights of underserved and underprivileged women and girls in Zimbabwe. The organization was developed from the Girls Leading Communities project, which was Bvukutwa’s CSP follow-on project. While in the U.S., Bvukutwa worked with the Women’s Initiative for Self Empowerment in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she worked on the Girls Getting Ahead in Leadership program that helps immigrant girls with leadership skills, college preparation and visits, homework help, and English lessons. She was a member of the fundraising committee and worked with the Harriet Tubman Foundation and the Youth Leadership Council. Following the Community Solutions Program, Bvukutwa worked to increase the abilities of women and girls living in Makonde District to succeed through leadership trainings, mentorship, and networking.
