Lynda Garcia is a specialist in gender and media, and is the Philippine country representative to the Asia Media Information Communications Center (AMIC) based in Singapore. She was chairperson of the Department of Communication in Miriam College from 2005-2011 and Philippine National Coordinator of the Global Media Monitoring Project for 2005 and 2009. She also is an advocate for persons with disabilities, with a focus on the deaf. She has produced deaf-friendly materials, including a recent video to assist those with hearing issues to participate in elections. She is currently studying for her PhD in Communication at the University of the Philippines.
