As the Team Leader at Nutri-Health Initiative in Malawi, Martin Emmanuel Kapalamula empowers vulnerable rural communities to secure adequate nutrition and health support by building local capacity to identify problems affecting their health and finding solutions using locally available resources. Kapalamula oversees the quality and timely implementation of all project activities at Nutri-Health Initiative, maintains good relationship with key stakeholders, and ensures donor contractual obligations and compliance. He also works as a Nutrition Educator. As a fellow at Fresh Approach in Concord, California, Kapalamula assisted in educational programs that connected low-income individuals and families with California-grown food and gave them the knowledge they needed to make smart diet choices. Having returned from the Community Solutions Program, Kapalamula is raising awareness on the prevention and self-management of hypertension and diabetes by delivering free health promotion, physical activity, and nutrition lessons among various population groups in Lilongwe district in Malawi.
