Biraj Gautam has four years of experience running environmental programming with a focus on renewable energy. As the Environmental Manager for the People, Energy and Environment Development Association (PEEDA), Gautam coordinates pico-hydro promotion projects and a biofuel project and also oversees all projects related to renewable energy technology services, with a view to maximizing benefits to the communities, strengthening the capacity of the local beneficiaries, and disseminating project learning. While in the U.S., Gautam worked with the Forest Foundation in Durham, North Carolina, learning about low-energy and energy efficient technologies used in the U.S. Having finished the Community Solutions Program, Gautam is focusing on setting up a unique rural economic zone that revolves around renewable energy and entrepreneurship.
