Abdon Troche
Abdon works in the transportation sector as the CTO of ROD S.A. For upper-middle-class people between twenty-two and forty-five who live in urban areas, value quality over price, and appreciate personalization and art, ROD S.A. is a transportation and micromobility company that uses digital fabrication to reduce the environmental impact of production by incorporating sustainable materials, such as bioplastics and recycled materials to create innovative, high-quality, easy-to-use, safe, and durable e-bikes that are designed with the user in mind and come with a range of features and accessories. Abdon’s short-term goal is to increase the company’s customer base and revenue by offering high-quality products and services and increasing production capacity to meet the needs and expectations of the target market. Their long-term vision is to provide innovative and sustainable solutions to customers from Latam communities and become a bicycle and e-bike manufacturer that can produce custom models and designs. Coming into the YLAI Fellowship, Abdon’s top business challenge is Scaling & Expansion. More specifically, they would like to expand the company’s target market to include the whole of Brazil and increase production to service this market, but they need to source materials and tools and increase the size of the production facility to deal with the increased demand. During the Fellowship Placement, Abdon hopes to gain knowledge and valuable insight into battery supply chains, packing technologies, charging systems, sales, and software for e-mobility; learn how similar companies have overcome scaling challenges; and collaborate on projects that align with their digital fabrication and engineering expertise.
