Alonso Marino Chávez Valdespino
Alonso works in the education sector as the co-founder of SciKid Club. For children between six and sixteen from families with low incomes, SciKid club is a science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) education organization that empowers young minds, fosters curiosity and creativity to help children solve their challenges using critical thinking, and makes quality science education accessible to all children by providing hands-on workshops and interactive experiences that are fun and engaging. Alonso's short-term goal is to expand the company's reach and impact by increasing the number of workshops offered and science kits created for schools and rural communities in Mexico, creating a passion for science and STEAM education among children. Their long-term vision is to establish a global network of innovative and accessible STEAM education programs and sites connected with research centers led by science communicators and scientists to empower generations of curious and creative problem solvers, driving positive change and sustainable development worldwide, especially in underserved areas. Coming into the YLAI Fellowship, Alonso's top business challenge is Strategy. More specifically, they want to refine the company's growth strategy and expand its reach to underserved communities, bridging educational inequalities and encouraging scientific engagement. During the Fellowship Placement, Alonso hopes to gain valuable insight into growth strategies, engage in mentorship, and collaborate with other organizations to enhance their business strategies, expand the company's impact, and further develop their leadership and networking skills.
