Anichell works in the agriculture and animal care sector as the Owner/Manager of Auga Model Farm. Auga Model Farm provides a farm-to-table service that offers fresh fruits and vegetables to low-income households, supermarkets, and market vendors at an affordable cost. Anichell’s short-term goal is to increase the company’s workforce to support a steady supply of sweet potatoes for customers, which will require the company to plant at least two acres of sweet potatoes in rotation. In the long term, the fellow aims to provide hands-on tours to locals and visitors by acquiring necessary amenities, such as running water and washrooms. Coming into the YLAI Fellowship, Anichell’s top business challenge is Finance, more specifically, acquiring the resources needed for expansion. During the Fellowship Placement, Anichell hopes to learn how to best utilize the company’s small space to improve the business and offer guidance to other young farmers.
