Karen Julieth Salazar Zapata
Karen works in the energy and environment sector as the Project Engineer of Nueva Organizaciãn de Ingenieria Social Y Ambiental S.A.S.—Nodinsa. For companies from various sectors such as manufacturing, transportation, fashion, food, and construction that need sustainable and socially responsible solutions, Nueva Organizaciãn de Ingenieria Social Y Ambiental S.A.S. is an environmental consulting company that offers technical studies, designs, construction work, training, and other services to comply with environmental regulations while promoting sustainability and innovation. Karen's short-term goal is for the company to be recognized in the region for its innovative and socially responsible work and its contribution to sustainable development. Ultimately, the aim is for the company to become a leader in environmental consulting services and have a visible positive impact on the environment and communities. Coming into the YLAI Fellowship, Karen’s top business challenge is Finance. They lack the economic resources to achieve their social projects and have struggled to pay maintenance costs and spread profits. Without enough capital, growing and pursuing projects has been difficult. During the Fellowship Placement, Karen hopes to learn about finance and social impact from a successful US organization to enable them to achieve a sustainable business and positively impact their community.
