Maya-Marie works in the lifestyle sector as the Founder and Professional Organizer of Better Spaces by Maya-Marie Ltd. For busy professionals, new homeowners, families, entrepreneurs, or anybody without the time to organize their home spaces, Maya-Marie Ltd. is a one-stop shop that manages each project from start to finish—including sourcing materials and hiring service providers—to transform personal areas by decluttering and organizing a space to create order, convenience, peace of mind, and hassle-free environments that boost productivity. Maya-Marie's short-term goal is to expand the company's retail operations by increasing inventory to complement the service aspect, build a lifestyle brand, and launch an intensive marketing program to build public awareness of the brand to double the customer base within a year and increase the product-to-service sales ratio. Their long-term vision is for the company to become the go-to expert in home and office organization throughout the Caribbean, to launch product bundles from the line of merchandise, which will account for 60% of the company's revenue by 2025, to secure local corporate contracts before expanding to commercial contracts, such as restaurants and hotels, and to have management and regional teams to expand to other Caribbean countries, such as Barbados and Jamaica. Coming into the YLAI Fellowship, Maya-Marie's top business challenge is Strategy. More specifically, they want to educate the public in Trinidad about home organization and its importance for everyday life. During the Fellowship Placement, Maya-Marie hopes to learn from the experience of the established market for personal organization in the US to gain knowledge on how to grow and sustain the company and sharpen and enhance its offerings.
