Francisco works in the business services sector as the Director of ABITO. For businesses of all types looking for a fully traceable and sustainable waste management service, ABITO is a recycling, composting, and waste collection company that provides services such as collection logistics, a triple impact waste sorting facility, and consulting, training, and design guidance for source separation, all while providing dignified employment to former informal street-waste pickers at the ABITO facility. In the short term, Francisco aims to enhance the waste-sorting plant's productivity by 30 percent within the next four months and achieve 8 percent annual profitability by July 2024. Ultimately, the fellow aims to become the country’s foremost leader in sustainable waste management within the next five years. Coming into the YLAI Fellowship, Francisco’s top business challenge is Operations. More specifically, they want to manage fixed and operational costs so that they align with revenue expansion. During the Fellowship Placement, Francisco hopes to gain the knowledge to effectively convey the company's vision and oversee goal attainment across diverse teams, as well as to gain exposure to best practices in productivity and processes, preferably within the sector of waste management and recycling.
