Angelo Izama
Ugandan journalist Angelo Izama is a plaintiff in a landmark case that seeks to invoke freedom of information laws to access wealth‐sharing agreements for his country's newly discovered oil fields. In 2001, he joined Monitor Publications, where he has been a news manager, trainer, and special projects reporter with a focus on the oil industry and regional security issues. He has been subject to criminal libel charges for an opinion piece concerning the Ugandan president. He is now a John S. Knight Fellow at Stanford University undertaking a media freedom effort to track harassment of journalists
