Ann Irene Nyambura Mundia
As the Founding Director of UsawaInc., Nyambura Mundia convenes and curates public events that highlight conversations about gender equality at work to improve women's work experience, creates collaborative strategies with HR agencies, women leaders in business, and respective industry thought leaders for the visibility of women influencers, and creates partnerships with NGOs, the Kenya Private Sector Alliance, and relevant government institutions towards policy development and advocacy on gender equality at work. While in the U.S., Mundia worked with World Organisation for Resource Development ( WORDE) in Gaithersburg, Maryland, where she supported execution of the Montgomery County Faith Community Working Group programs and evaluated it for contextual replication in countering violent extremism programming in Kenya and co-designed a countering violent extremism program that provided trauma-informed counseling, mentoring, and case management for refugee and low-income communities in Montgomery County. Since her return to Kenya, Mundia works with organizations to co-create equitable workspaces towards achieving gender equality at work and convenes the Women Leaders' Hangout, a creative, inter-generational feminist space that hosts quarterly events focusing on women, their workplace experiences, and career mobility.
