Ayman Salah, Egypt, is a digital entrepreneur and consultant on media business development. He helped launched the Middle East News Agency’s SMS news service and worked with the USAID‐funded Media Development Program to assist news organizations in becoming more profitable in today’s competitive high‐tech communications environment. As a Knight International Journalism Fellow, he is establishing Hacks/Hackers chapters in the Middle East with the goal of expanding local technology that supports development of independent, Arabic‐language media in the region. One idea being tested would create a mobile application that allows newspapers to collect, verify and publish citizen‐journalist reports.
