Claudia Lucero Andaluz Llerena
Claudia Lucero works in the health sector as the Co-founder/Advocacy and Communications Director of De-mentes Peru. For people ages fifteen to forty of all genders who seek to fight stigmas, promote mental health, and work to improve overall well-being and health at the societal and organizational levels, De-mentes Peru is a nonprofit organization focused on mental health advocacy that improves people’s overall well-being by eliminating discrimination and promoting human rights. Claudia Lucero aims to achieve financial sustainability for De-Mentes Peru in order to scale up the social impact of initiatives targeted at vulnerable populations in the short term. Ultimately, they would like it to become a reference organization in the global mental health field with more inclusive, empowered, and participative societies that position mental health as a priority in public agendas. Coming into the YLAI Fellowship, Claudia Lucero’s top business challenge is Finance. More specifically, they want to work on the sustainability of the organization’s finances because there are no customers at certain times of the year. This limits the organization’s ability to hire new talent since it currently cannot offer them a fixed monthly income. This fellow wants to scale and expand the organization, but its current revenues make it challenging. During the Fellowship Placement, Claudia Lucero hopes to gain experience and wants to learn the best finance and talent management practices to attract investments and support De-mentes’s entrepreneurial ventures, potentiating its expansion to other regions of Latin America.
