Claudia Rivera has led the SAFE Initiative Central America regional office since 2013, providing support to Central American journalists to strengthen their knowledge in safety and security thus enabling them to work as safely as possible.

Claudia is an experienced journalist, having worked at El Salvador’s largest newspapers and in many international organizations. She is a specialist in emergency and humanitarian aid issues and has provided information management for the United Nations Development Program, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, and the World Food Program.

Claudia has a master’s in journalism from the University Pompeu Fabrá of Barcelona and University of El Salvador and a master’s in media business administration from the University of Navarra  in Pamplona.
