Damir Ismailov

Europe & Eurasia, Kyrgyzstan, Peace and Conflict Resolution, 2017

As a practicing lawyer working for the Human Rights and Advocacy Center, Damir develops and implements litigation strategies before domestic courts, as well as regional and international human rights bodies. Damir renders free legal aid and advice to various segments of the population whose human rights and freedoms are in jeopardy, or whose rights and freedoms are underrepresented. During his fellowship in the United States, Damir hopes to learn how to better address human rights problems in practice and how to support vulnerable groups by empowering them with knowledge about their rights. Upon returning from the Community Solutions Program, Damir plans to use what he has learned on his fellowship to more effectively promote and protect human rights in Kyrgyzstan.
