As the Executive Director of the Foundation for Community and Capacity Development (FOCCAD), Dan Eddie Nthara is responsible for strategic planning, resource mobilization, and facilitation of linkages and networks with the board and funders for emergency transport services. While in the U.S., Nthara worked with ACRIA in New York, where he supported the facilitation of meetings with people living with HIV, documented key HIV issues in Malawi affecting women and the treatment cascade, and supported the development of key presentations on aging, HIV, and AIDS. Since his return to Malawi, Nthara has focused his efforts on women’s empowerment in health, supporting the retention of women on ART to remain in care, tracing defaulters and bringing them back to care, and supporting the tracing of sex workers and their infants for HIV tests, treatment, care, and support.
