Donat M'Baya Tshimanga is president of Journalistes en Danger (Journalists in Danger), which works to promote free expression and protect reporters and editors in the Democratic Republic of Congo and central Africa. As a journalist and editor early in his career, he worked for the Congolese newspapers Finance, Le Soft and Le Soleil du Crépuscule. He has contributed to freedom of expression initiatives across Africa, including as a member of the conference elaborating principles adopted by the African Union, as well as internationally. Journalistes en Danger is a leading force in Congolese civil society and human rights activism.
