Firuza Gulayozova
As an English and Humanities Teacher and Counselor for the Regional Council, Firuza assists youth and adults in overcoming problems related to conflict among the younger generation. Firuza is an expert in youth psychology and has developed skills in listening to the problems of young people and helping them find solutions themselves; preparing activities to overcome social problems; and educating youth about different cultures. During her fellowship in the United States, Firuza hopes to learn more about the role education plays in solving the everyday problems of youth, and about resolving conflicts among youth. She also aims to develop her skills in community leadership; communication; and motivating parents, teachers, and youth to value a peaceful community. Upon returning to Tajikistan, Firuza plans to establish an NGO focused on helping youth overcome stress and disappointment, and to believe in a better future through participation in various camps and activities.
