Flaka Polozhani
As the President and Project Coordinator for the Struga Municipality’s Community Center, Flaka provides legal and administrative aid for citizens; conducts research on the transparency and accountability of local institutions; and provides non-formal education in local democracy and human rights. Flaka is an expert in civic engagement for human rights and has developed skills in organizing public events to promote civic participation; increase transparency and accountability on a local level; and research legal and social issues. During her fellowship in the United States, Flaka hopes to strengthen her research and analytical skills; learn tools for participatory democracy and policy making; and develop her skills in communication, preventing discrimination, and community outreach. Upon returning from the Community Solutions Program, Flaka plans to promote transparency and advocate for human rights on a local and national level.
