Flavia Shehu
As Center Coordinator for the Down Syndrome Albania Foundation, Flavia coordinates the implementation of programs, assesses child needs, designs education plans, and trains psychologists, social workers, and special teachers. Flavia is an expert in therapeutic programs, leading counselling sessions, and preparing guides for various audiences. She is skilled in assessing children with developmental delays, preparing education plans, as well as organizing trainings and conferences. During her fellowship in the United States, Flavia hopes to learn about methodologies for assessment and treatment of young persons with disabilities, best practices for centers for disabled youth, and professional development for staff, while also developing her skills in intervention effectiveness and her knowledge of tools for advocacy and lobbying. Upon returning to Albania, Flavia plans to promote quality therapeutic and community services for children and young people with disabilities.
