As a Community Engagement Officer and Social Worker for Ifakara Environmental and Community Development Organization, Mdodi works to resolve local environmental problems by addressing environmental protective measures through community engagement strategies such as trainings, workshops, seminars, and traditional dances. Mdodi is an expert in community empowerment related to environmental protection, and has developed skills in facilitating trainings in budgeting, advocacy, and lobbying. During his fellowship in the United States, Mdodi hopes to learn about project monitoring and evaluation, environmental policy, as well as further develop his skills in proposal writing, budget management, and community participation strategies. Upon returning from to Tanzania, Mdodi plans to use civic education and public campaigns to teach his local community about the impacts of climate change.
