As a Community Development Officer for Water Mission Malawi, Freda trains local communities and leaders on the implementation of safe water projects in rural areas. Freda is an expert in environmental science and community development and has developed skills in communication, team building, and creative problem solving. During her fellowship in the United States, Freda hopes to learn about the best approaches for community development work and how to promote active community participation to achieve sustainability. Upon returning from the Community Solutions Program, Freda plans to start a social enterprise that will focus on environmentally sound waste management, which will recycle waste into income-generating products ranging from clothing, fashion accessories, deco arts, and compost manure. Her goal is to address waste management, unemployment, and urbanization of poverty in Malawi.
