As President of Youth Can, a youth-led nonprofit organization in Macedonia dedicated to leadership development for youth, Ivan Jovanov oversees the major operations of the organization. His main focus is on developing and managing youth empowerment programs that encourage youth participation in their local communities through volunteer initiatives and service learning. Jovanov also serves as a board member of the National Youth Council of Macedonia and, until December 2014, had been a member of the Youth Council of the American Embassy in Skopje. While in the U.S., Jovanov worked at Spurs Sports & Entertainment in San Antonio, Texas, learning new approaches to engaging youth and encouraging their civic activism. Now that he has returned to Macedonia, Jovanov is working with high school students to help them implement small scale service learning projects in their local communities.
