Javier Arnoldo Saki
Javier works in the tourism and agriculture sectors as the Owner/Manager of Ya'axkin Butterfly Farm. For owners of butterfly houses or gardens within Europe and North America, families, nature lovers, and researchers interested in biodiversity and the environment, Ya'axkin operates a butterfly farm that provides a steady supply of butterflies for export, actively engaging in sustainable agricultural practices while also being a recognized destination for tourists. Javier aims to expand their butterfly house to enhance Ya'axkin’s ability to accommodate more visitors in the short term. The long-term vision is to establish butterfly farming as a robust industry in Belize, involving others in the butterfly farming industry to export tens of thousands of Belizean butterflies to different parts of the world. Coming into the YLAI Fellowship, Javier’s top business challenge is Operations. More specifically, the operational aspect of the business presents a challenge that they believe is affecting their ability to ramp up production and effectively meet new clients' demands. During the Fellowship Placement, Javier hopes to learn new ways and strategies to run the business.
