Jaylan works in the arts and culture sector as the Founder, Director, and Certified Teaching Artist of Modern Dance Movement. For those interested in dance or the performing arts in Belize, Modern Dance Movement offers weekly dance classes and annual performances to help boost dancers' self-esteem and confidence. The company also provides several opportunities to travel and perform in different parts of the country. Jaylan’s main short-term goal is to organize two annual performances to enhance dancers' performance skills and artistic expression. The main long-term goal is to build and operate a private dance studio in Belize City so that the company can expand its student enrollment, classes, and staff. Coming into the YLAI Fellowship, Jaylan’s top business challenge is Strategy, more specifically, developing the most effective strategy to reach their main long-term goal. During the Fellowship Placement, Jaylan hopes to gain the knowledge and expertise needed to effectively run and expand their company.
