As the Director of Property Rights and Environmental Law at Luris Veritatis, José Alonso Huaman organizes educational fora to discuss and educate the public about Peru’s laws surrounding genetically modified foods, food security, and consumer protection. During his CSP fellowship, Huaman worked with the City of Cleveland’s Office of Sustainability on community organizing and research on issues around locally sourced food and local food production. Upon returning to Peru, he worked to educate local consumers about how they can support the environment and public health through their own purchasing power.
