Joseph Warungu Mureithi
Joseph Warungu Mureithi, Kenya, is a media production professional skilled in the strategic use of television, radio, and theatre to call attention to critical development issues in Africa. As a Knight International Journalism Fellow, Joseph is working with Rhodes University to establish a pan‐African network of journalists who regularly cover poverty and development issues and who will be assisted by development experts to inform and enhance their reporting. He is also training journalists on the use of data‐gathering and data‐visualization techniques. He most recently served as head of the BBC African News and Current Affairs department, where he managed the daily flagship news programs Focus on Africa and Network Africa, and supervised over 60 reporters throughout Africa and production staff in London. He is also the former Editor‐in‐Chief of Focus on Africa, the BBC’s quarterly magazine.
