Kamalie Jon'Dre Mannix
Kamalie works in the youth empowerment sector as the President of the National Youth Parliament Association of Antigua and Barbuda (NYPAAB). For young people from twelve to twenty-nine years old, the NYPAAB is an action-based and data-driven campain group that posits political solutions and offers advocacy, aiming to go beyond protest to ameliorate the problems it identifies by drawing upon extensive research and intimate interactions with the individuals affected. Kamalie aims to create a mechanism where young people can contribute to national decision-making in the short term and ultimately to become the premier youth advocacy organisation in Antigua and Barbuda and the Caribbean. Coming into the YLAI Fellowship, Kamalie’s top business challenge is Talent. More specifically, the NYPAAB will require a combination of talents and skills to reach its full potential, so the fellow is searching for ways to bring members up to the desired skill level. During the Fellowship Placement, Kamalie hopes to gain knowledge and experience of how organisations introduce internal policies to solve challenges to their development.
