Kelvin Gil
As Coordinator of English as a Second Language (ESL) Programs at Children International DR, Kelvin promotes and supports the personal and professional development of vulnerable youth living in extreme poverty. Through English language instruction, Kelvin provides the youth with language skills that help them enter the labor market and improve their quality of life. Kelvin is an expert in promoting behavior change in youth by teaching an English curriculum that integrates life and work skills. During his fellowship in the United States, Kelvin hopes to learn more about conflict resolution, youth counselling, public speaking and environmental initiatives linked to youth development. Upon returning from the Community Solutions Program, Kelvin plans to train former ESL students in leadership, translation, and interpretation techniques to form an association of translators.
