Lara Setrakian is the Co-founder and Executive Editor of News Deeply and its first platform, Syria Deeply. She has spent more than five years as a foreign correspondent, covering the Middle East for television, radio, and digital platforms including ABC News, Bloomberg Television and the International Herald Tribune. She has since focused on the fusion of news and technology. Syria Deeply was launched in December 2012 and Time magazine dubbed it “the future of news” while Fast Company said it “outsmarts the news business, redefines crisis coverage.” She is currently a Fellow of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, serving at its Tow-Knight Center for Digital Journalism.
