Lucy Imalingat is a Community Liaison Officer for the Uganda Land Alliance, an organization seeking to address chronic food insecurities, environmental degradation, and human rights violations. Imalingat focuses her work on increasing community awareness of land rights, ensuring land tenure security for marginalized groups, and promoting the protection of common property resources through the establishment of communal land associations. While in the U.S., Imalingat worked at Earthworks, Oil and Gas Accountability Project in Durango, Colorado, where she learned about organizing environmental awareness campaigns and conducted research on the communities' ability refuse oil and gas development within their boundaries. Upon returning from the Community Solutions Program, Imalingat worked to strengthen capacity of grassroots organizations and local governments to demand and respond to the changing environment of land acquisition and oil exploration for peace, reconciliation, and wealth creation.
