María del Mar works in the Community Development sector leading Fundación Soy Oportunidad and is a lawyer. The fellow developed a virtual program of personal growth and economic productivity for single mothers living in vulnerable situations in Colombia. They encourage companies to work with women who are committed to self-improvement and have a desire to get ahead. Income is mainly from financing granted by those companies requiring personnel who match the foundation’s beneficiaries. Their differentiating factor is that the women are taught to work with quality and commitment, with the result that more and more companies finance the program and help more women throughout the country. Coming to the YLAI Fellowship, María del Mar’s top business challenge is Finance.
