As the WEST PIP Manager with Oxfam Haiti, Marie Soudnie Rivette works with local groups on facilitating gender sensitive context analysis and with community-based organizations and women's groups on developing strategic plans, designing and implementing democratic governance models, and implementing participatory approaches to community development. Since January 2010, Rivette has been investing in the protection of persons affected by the earthquake and the promotion of youth leadership. While in the U.S., Rivette worked at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, supporting faculty with conducting a community assessment on refugees' experiences, focusing on their exposure to violence and their coping mechanisms. Following the fellowship, she worked to develop youth councils in at-risk neighborhoods to address issues of conflict in local communities.
