Marisol Picado Valenzuela
Marisol works in the recycling sector as the Project Manager of Esquipi. For the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, Esquipi is a raw materials provider that offers supplies made from agro-industrial crop waste, creating significant positive environmental and social impacts. Marisol’s short-term goal is to reduce the pineapple industry’s soil, water, and air pollution in Costa Rica while creating value from what is normally regarded as waste and creating new job opportunities. Their long-term vision is to make the first raw materials factory in Costa Rica and Central America and become a leader in social and environmental responsibility. Coming into the YLAI Fellowship, Marisol’s top business challenge is Marketing & Sales. More specifically, they want to reach new clients by increasing public recognition of the company’s brand and products. During the Fellowship Placement, Marisol hopes to learn about the strategies and skills needed for a successful and commercially sustainable green economy project. Moreover, they wish to become a better leader to guide the company to success.
