As the Founder and CEO of Desert Water SL Limited, Martin Kailie leads business leadership, innovation, and partnership building. While in the U.S., Kailie worked with YWCA Genesee in Batavia, New York, where he learned  how to set up farmers markets and learned about the causes of domestic violence in U.S. by monitoring cases of domestic violence in the Genesee courts. Since his return to Sierra Leone, Kailie is testing a prototype biodigester he built that aims to reverse deforestation, pollution, and other energy poverty related issues.
