Melvin Sharty
As a Project Officer for Network Movement for Democracy and Human Rights, Melvin advocates for the rights of women and girls who are victims of gender-based and domestic violence through strategic campaigns, GBV education, and organizing trainings for the local community. Melvin is an expert in developing projects focused on gender-based and domestic violence against women and girls in rural settings. During his fellowship in the United States, Melvin hopes to learn about gender-based and domestic violence prevention among women and girls while also developing skills in creating call-to-action campaigns for men and other groups to stop violence against women and girls. Upon returning to Sierra Leone, Melvin plans to design community action advocacy messages and programs that will help establish a level playing field for marginalized teenage girls and women to live in a community free from domestic violence.
