As Community and Host Manager at Innovation Collaboration Entrepreneurship Cairo, an innovation hub for green technology production that turns the challenges faced by Egyptian communities into sustainable businesses, Mostafa Hussein works to increase the community’s economic well-being and create a more resilient Egypt. During his fellowship, Hussein worked with the Institute for Market Transformation in Washington, DC, advocating for and building alternative energy models at the community level. Upon his return to Egypt, Hussein worked to create local demand for small-scale renewable energy applications, such as solar water heaters, solar cookers, solar water stills, and bio-gas digesters, building demonstration units in a few key houses, and conducting awareness-raising campaigns with members of the business and civil society sectors who also support the adaptation of these technologies.
